Sometimes you think you’ve had the most wonderful idea, only to find out you were wrong. It happens. I know, because it happened to me. I thought I’d try a paid site for my author blog, setting it up real nice for all of you, hoping it would be what I wanted.
As it turns out it wasn’t what I wanted. I’m not sure if it was the hosting site or myself, but it just wasn’t working for me. I had decided to still use a WordPress theme and setup, so I thought it would be fine. But no, I just didn’t like it. While I’m sure the hosting site works well for others, it just was not a fit for me.
Lesson learned. And here I am, back with you on the blog – happy I’m here. I spent a little over a year on that platform, trying to make it work for me, and I know this free blog leaves me with fewer options, but I just kept missing it. So here I am! I’ve moved back.
I’m pretty excited to be here, and happy that I have so much to share with you. I’ve published new stories, and am working on even more. I even wrote a series of novella’s. They aren’t edited, and will not likely be available this year, but what a huge step for me! I’m so used to writing short stories because of my short attention span, that I was proud as could be that I pulled off four novellas in a year.
I am not going to consider my foray away from here and to a new site a failure. But it was a lesson well learned.
Not that I don’t use other hosting sites for websites I create. I do, actually. For two of my sites. I’m so happy with those sites and how things are set up. The longest standing hosting site I’ve used is Hostgator.com, and love it. If you happen to want to set up your first paid site, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to set up a second site with them when I wanted to create the fiction site. They only wanted me to have one site with them.
Of course, my being back here means I’ve already made some changes:
- The page bar above the header photo is how I want it now.
- I’ve deleted and added links to the side bar.
- I’ve added the new stories I’ve published to the side bar. (More info on each story to come!)
- I’ve changed the headers.
- I’m experimenting with feature photos.
- I’ve updated My Story and Contact Information.
I have a lot I’ll be sharing, so come back often.
